Q: Are all garments manufactured in Hong Kong?
A: Yes! All of the leather jackets or leather garments produced by Kam Ma are Made In Hong Kong. All steps are personally carried out by artisans with over 40 years of experience. Kam Ma will not outsource any part of the production process to Mainland China for a higher profit margin. Your every cent is used in the production of your jackets.
Q: Where do the leather fabrics come from?
A: Lambskin and cowhide mainly come from Italy and Spain. Other specialized materials are from Thailand, South Africa and other countries. Kam Ma won't lower the costs to widen our profit margin or enhance the market competitiveness by importing leather fabrics from other sources like Pakistan, Indonesia or Mainland China.
Q: What brand of lining does Kam Ma use?
A: Kam Ma only uses the high-quality Japanese brand called Bemberg.
Q: How will the finished product be shipped?
A: Shun Fung Express (SF) will be used for local distribution while DHL will be used for overseas clients.
Q: Although Made To Order (MTO) jackets are sold online, is there a chance for clients to see the samples?
A: For your convenience, the four men's leather jackets in S, M, L & XL respectively are all available at our workshop. If you would like to try them on, view the jackets and choose the colors, please call or whatsapp +852-61441583 Miss Lam for appointment.
Q: What are the opening hours of the workshop?
A: Monday to Saturday: 10:30am to 10:30pm. Advance booking is essential.
Q: Tailor-made process and time required?
A: Online or WhatsApp booking. Meet at our workshop for enquiries, measuring, and selection of materials. After your order is confirmed, mock-up fitting will be available 2-3 weeks later. About 2-3 weeks after the fitting, the finished jackets will be available for collection. Altogether, the process will take about 4-6 weeks.
Q: For first-time clients, how much time should they reserve?
A: Please allow 45 mins for us to fully understand your requirements. Kam Ma will provide professional advice and/or communicate with clients. Besides, clients can choose their preferred leather fabrics, colors, and other accessories such as lining, buttons, buckles and the likes. When the selection is done, our experienced artisans will carry out the measurement-taking procedure. The second visit is the fitting session, which normally takes about 15 to 30 minutes.
Q: What is the price of a bespoke leather jacket?
A: Because each piece is tailor-made, the choice of style, leather type and size varies a lot and therefore is hard to quote accurately. For a jacket of basic style and size in Italian Lambskin, it is about HK$6000 up.
Q: Can clients choose any style they want?
A: Yes. Clients can use different means to convey their ideas to us. For example, they can use photos as the basis and modify the details to suit their specific taste. Clients can also draw sketches or even let us know verbally what they want and let us draw the sketches for their confirmation.
Q: Can other accessories be customized to our liking?
A: Yes. Other than the usual matching plain color lining, Kam Ma also offers over a hundred different patterns for clients to choose from. Clients can also provide us with their own accessories like buttons, buckles and zippers. In recent years, some clients prefer to use real silk and scarves of designer brands as the lining. Besides the traditional YKK zippers, some clients opt for a higher end Swiss brand called RIRI. In short, different styles and different sizes are available for your selection.
Q: Besides leather, can Kam Ma tailor-make jackets which are non leather?
A: Yes. Although Kam Ma specializes in leather garments, thanks to the recognition of our craftsmanship, more and more clients have requested us to use different materials such as linen, cashmere, wool and denim for their jackets. If there are any specialized materials you like, feel free to discuss with us. Kam Ma is progressing with the times, and is happy to take on new challenges to fulfil the clients’ every need.
Q: Can clients provide their own leather or materials?
A: Yes. As there are many types of materials, Kam Ma is unable to keep stock and inventory of every variant. However, if clients have any special requests, we will fulfil them to the best of our capability.
Q: If I live overseas, how do I place an order?
A: Clients can contact Kam Ma via email, Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp by providing us your height, weight and photos or sketches of your favorite styles. Measurement guides are available on our website. If there is a need, we can set up an online meeting too. In order to strive for perfection, Kam Ma will also create a set of bespoke paper patterns for every client and will deliver the "mock-up" to their doorstep. After trying it on, clients can send us photos and discuss any potential changes. Above all, customers' total satisfaction is our goal.
